Virtual Workshop Series

The Leadership Development & Education Committee is coordinating weekly virtual workshops so you can participate in free Kiwanis learning from home!

All sessions will be held via Zoom. Login instructions will be sent via email several days prior to the workshops. 

As an event held by the District, these do count for inter-club credit. To learn more about inter-clubs, click here. Please observe the following rule:
“Kiwanis Clubs with 20 or fewer members need a minimum of two members in attendance to constitute an inter-club meeting, clubs with 21-30 members need three members, and clubs with 31 or more members need at least four members in attendance.”

Not all workshops in our series will be recorded, but those that are will be posted on our YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Wednesday, April 7th – 7:00pm-8:00pm
There Is No Strength Without Struggle
We’ll discuss what it takes to be a strong Kiwanis Club and share ideas and resources for building that strength together. Presented by Jim Janosik, USA Region 1 Club Strengthening Advisor and member of the Kiwanis Club of Worthington-Linworth (Ohio) and Emily Sharp, Northeast Region Area Director at Kiwanis International (Indianapolis, IN).

Wednesday, April 14th – 7:00pm-8:00pm
LGBTQ and YOU: Creating Safe and Positive Environments for LGBTQ Youth
“LGBTQ and YOU” helps to create a safe and more inclusive environment for your Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) and your club. This session will provide a baseline understanding of current gender terminology, an overview of of the gay rights movement, and how to interact with students (and fellow club members) who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Queer. Presented by Shawn “Spike” Smith, Lt. Governor and member of the Kiwanis Club of Sheraden (PA).

New Membership Initiatives from the New England & Bermuda District
Learn about the District’s new membership initiatives that support clubs in recruiting and retaining members. Programs include: Membership Madness, reimbursement for new member fees, and COVID-19 Dues Assistance Grant Program. Presented by Governor Denis Murphy, Governor-Elect Gayla Bartlett, Membership Growth and Retention Chairs Robert Willey and Daryl Sylvia, and Past Governor Elyse Denorfia.
